Fan ownership?  Best team in the league

By Tangotiger, 06:45 PM

Fun stuff:

In the club’s first year under this unusual ownership, Ebbsfleet United captured the FA Trophy, a tournament that features all semi-professional clubs in England.

While it did win the FA Trophy, it is reportedly having issues financially still.

And fan interest in the team (and money support) through myfootballclub has apparently dropped significantly.

So in the short-term, this could work.  In the long term, probably not.

still waiting for a player owned team.  how great would it be to see england (or whatever county’s) under 17 team all get together and form a team/company that starts in whatever wrung they can get on in FA and work their way up to the EPL?  hire coaches, managers and legal as necessary, just like a band or similar group of entertainers (theatre troop?) and keep all the money left over after expenses.

it’ll never happen, for a million reasons but i’d guess mostly because its risky and the best players would probably all opt out as soon as they got good guaranteed money, but i still think its a cool idea.  least to me, it’s the best thing next to a player owned league.

Please see the Green Bay Packers. Obviously football is a much easier competitive environment than baseball due to revenue sharing from network contracts.

I don’t know a thing about soccer besides Tim Howard’s a goalie so I can’t comment on how this arrangement compares to the Packers.
