ESPN: Whither hockey?

By Tangotiger, 10:47 AM

In a form of “Un-Occupy” ESPN, this blogger basically took matters into his own hands, and gave his tribute to those fallen hockey players that ESPN ignored, and the commenters picked up on it, and added more.  And others have taken up his story.

That is unbelievable. For years ESPN has been moving away from its position of leading sports network to becoming the leading self-promoting network, where anything they didn’t televise was less important because they didn’t televise it. This is a new low.

thats been ESPN’s SOP for a while now. basically since they got bought by disney. espn accounts for some absurd percentage of the growth at disney. they are not going to sacrifice profits for journalistic integrity.

i dont think thats much of a problem too. now you have blogs and non-MSM eviscerating espn at every turn. before, you just kind of assumed espn was being sort of fair or fair enough and moved on. the system now is much better.

Interesting about Disney and hockey, in light of the Mighty Ducks…
