Bonds and Griffey

By Tangotiger, 07:46 AM

In 1997

Still, Bonds doesn’t realistically believe Maris’ record will fall.

“Not unless you make it mandatory for a starting pitcher go eight innings,” he said. “Baseball has changed.”

Always fascinating to me that one of the reasons Bonds is allegedly to have said he started his drug program is to keep up with the Joneses (McGwire, Sosa).  That is, if there were no other guys who usurped Bonds’ glamour, of his rightful place as the unquestioned greatest nonpitcher of his generation, it’s possible he would not have started with his drug program.  Then again, we all have decisions to make and to take responsibility for.

Tom - For some reason, I don’t think the Bonds being jealous of Mac/sosa thing is true.  I think his use of steroids ( assuming he did it ) was more because of the fact that MLB ignored his problem, and he figured “ hey, if they aren’t testing, why not join the other druggies ? “.

Also, quick question - When will amazon.com have more copies of your book again ?

It’s been available at Amazon continuously here:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B000EW872M/

The preference is to order directly from our site, rather than through Amazon.  You don’t need a PayPal account, just give them your credit card number.

The larger preference is of course to get it either way.
