Blogspot blocked

By Tangotiger, 10:59 AM

The filter at my office now blocks all blogspot.com sites.  That means Phil, Rally, Patriot, and several others won’t be linked anywhere as timely as I have in the past.  I’m always worried that this blog will eventually be added to the blacklist.  Crossing fingers…

If you use an RSS feed reader, you’ll still be able to read the entries (via the reader) and should be able to get the links to the entries.

Or you could use a proxy server.

I got around it at General Dynamics (crazy restrictions) by using cooliris.  You find what you want via google and then use Cooliris to get to get.

With your own laptop and a mifi in your pocket or a USB modem you would be able to log in any time anywhere. About $60 per month.

Yeah guys, try to get the guy fired by finding ways around workplace internet useage rules.

I’m fine with Tango getting fired.  Frees him up to spend more time finding the M’s replacements for the worst middle infield in baseball.

All us blogspot guys could e-mail you our latest posts when we post them ... if you want.

Do the people at your place of work know about your work as a baseball analyst, or is this part of your life completely separated from your day job?

The guys at Fire Joe Morgan (RIP) used to say they didn’t reveal their identities so that their bosses didn’t know how much time they spent writing blog posts instead of doing work.

Dan/7: the latter.  Definitely the latter.

Google Reader works like a charm (except no comments).

Thanks…

Time to buy that shiny new domain I’ve been thinking about.. smile

I’m pretty sure that there are comment feeds as well via blogspot, but that gets clunky.

Dave/5- I think the Cardinals beg to differ.

dae: I work on a consulting basis with the M’s, not fulltime.

#14    Nick      (see all posts) 2009/05/15 (Fri) @ 09:35

Don’t people know that you wrote The Book though?

#15    Tangotiger      (see all posts) 2009/05/15 (Fri) @ 09:42

I see.  You must not know then that “Tango” is an alias.

Funny thing… there’s actually people on Facebook, other than me, with the name “Tom Tango”, and it seems legitimate too.

Help!

Joe Posnanski has been blocked at work and he has not setup an RSS feed that Google reader can find.  Can someone post it.

If he doesn’t have one, someone do him a favor and show him how to get one.

#17    Nick      (see all posts) 2009/05/15 (Fri) @ 10:08

d’oh.  I’m not too sharp.

Bam, done, thanks.

Obviously, it’s a catch-22: I want his rss file, but I can only get it from his site.  But I can’t get to his site without the rss file.

#20    Zach      (see all posts) 2009/05/17 (Sun) @ 17:29

You could always use a proxy site, such as kproxy[dot]com.

#21    Tangotiger      (see all posts) 2009/05/18 (Mon) @ 13:35

That proxy site is blocked as well.

Can someone post the RSS feed for Neyer’s blog please?

#22    Tangotiger      (see all posts) 2009/05/18 (Mon) @ 15:39

This is getting ridiculous:
http://www.bizofbaseball.com
is also blocked.

#23    jinaz      (see all posts) 2009/05/18 (Mon) @ 15:46

Either someone’s out to get you… or someone in the IT department just bought some list of common distraction sites or something.

I like the former hypothesis, but I’m the paranoid type.
