Batter Pitcher Matchups

By Tangotiger, 02:03 PM

As readers of The Book know, this has little meaning.  Even so, lots of fun:

Is this new?  While it has no strategic use as Tango says, I have always looked for easy access to this kind of data.  When managers inexplicably change their lineup or rest or play a certain player, I have always wondered if it is because of batter/pitcher matchup data.  Now I can check.

BTW, the two most prevalent myths in baseball, by far and away, among commentators, fans, players, managers, etc., is, one, hot and cold streaks, and two, batter/pitcher matchups.

It’s new. I added it last week.
