Are the Yankees trying to hit more fly balls?
Pat presents partial data:
Below are some of your 2009 New York Yankees, accompanied by their 2009 FB%, their 2008 FB%, and where this season’s FB% ranks along with how many seasons the data has been available for.
Player
Mark Teixeira: 45.1%, 36.5%, 1/7
Derek Jeter: 26%, 23.8%, 2/8
Jorge Posada: 43.2%, 39.7%, 1/8
Johnny Damon: 44.6%, 34.2% , 1/8
Hideki Matsui: 42%, 34.5%, 2/7
Nick Swisher: 44.8%, 44.5%, 4/6
Jose Molina: 41%, 33%, 1/8
It’s better to show all the data when you do stuff like this.

Good point, Tom. I updated my post over at THT Live (I’m still getting used to the formatting there so hopefully I can make the numbers look neater), and I put this:
“UPDATE: The great Tom Tango, over at his The Book Blog, wrote that I should include all the data when doing something like this. I agree, and I assume he meant to include all the Yankees, so I’ll include the rest of the starters/players with enough service time for the numbers to mean anything, and update the list to include the player’s career FB%, which is right after last year’s mark.”
I assumed this is what you had meant, and if not let me know. If I included the GB and LD rates without the table the whole thing would go to hell.
