Bartering tickets

By Tangotiger, 01:44 PM

It seems that the secondary ticket exchange market doesn’t work well-enough.  Rather than dumping your tickets for cash, and then using that cash to buy other tickets (with of course a hefty commission for both exchanges), here comes an idea to trade tickets for other tickets (with, presumably, no commisson):

On Thursday, the [NJ] Nets announced a partnership with the Florida Panthers that will allow season-ticket holders of both teams to trade their unused tickets for ducats to a game at the other’s arena. The Panthers play in Sunrise, Fla.  Called the Snowbird Ticket Exchange Plan, the program is the brainchild of Nets CEO Brett Yormark and his twin brother, Panthers COO Michael Yormark. According to a press release distributed by the Nets yesterday, this is the first such program between two major professional sports teams.
