Great story.
As an epilogue to all that great reporting, Raines, originally offered 3/4.8 by the Expos, and seeing that the top offer was far less than that, signed with the Expos for 3/5.0 or 5.1! I don’t know if Bronfman was in on the collusion, but clearly he knew that Raines deserved more than his initial offer, and he gave it to him.
The Expos by the way made their initial offers to Raines and Dawson (2/2.2) public.
