A writer against The Holy Writers
I call the Hall of Fame voters “The Holy Writers”. Gregg Doyel calls them The Guardians of the Game. Either way works.
Give a plaque to those that had an effect on the game on the playing field, however they managed to do it. If we can honor soldiers, a few of whom may have otherwise been less than valiant off the battlefield, then none of us are qualified to pass judgement on the ethics of baseball players, especially since the group of baseball players themselves have chosen not to make an issue of those very ethics.
